project description:

A research commission for the top level young regional artist towards her goal of working with scientists to create a 3D immersive environment within which to experience a microscopic world.

The Future Physical Commission provides the means by which Catherine Watling can continue to develop essential relationships with scientific, industrial and creative partners and simultaneously concentrate on the theoretical content development for the work. This research period will take place over a period of seven months between August 2002 and February 2003. The outcome will be the production of a 2D prototype, which will be exhibited at the Biotechnology Network Exchange.
